Triangle Regional Freight Plan

Strategic Freight Corridor

The MPO is asking citizens to review the Triangle Regional Freight Plan and send their comments to Andy Henry, andrew.henry@durhamnc.gov, (919) 560-4366, ext. 36419, through October 15, 2018.  Citizens are also invited to speak directly to the MPO Board at a public hearing for this plan on October 10, 2018, 9am, Committee Room, 2nd floor of Durham City Hall (101 City Hall Plaza, Durham, NC, 27701).  It is expected that the Board will approve the Freight Plan at their November 14th meeting.  Note: citizens with special needs who need transportation to this meeting or assistance to communicate at the meeting can contact Mr. Henry.

The DCHC MPO has jointly funded the first ever Triangle Regional Freight Plan with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).  The goal is to assess the needs of the freight industry and recommend projects and policies for possible inclusion in the MPO long-range transportation plans and in local policies and plans, as well.

The draft Freight Plan is available below and an interactive map of the proposed Strategic Freight Corridor (SFC) is available at the top of this page.
